about us.
story.
The idea came to us in school, shortly before our final exams. During math class, we preferred designing to calculating. That's how it all began in 2022. Our young company was born from this creative break. Vintage designs are on trend—more than ever—but finding clothes that combine both an authentic vintage look and the popular Y2K style is almost impossible. You might find such treasures at flea markets, but they're often either damaged or so worn out that they're barely wearable for everyday wear—let alone for more formal occasions. Why is this style hardly produced anymore? And why does it take so much luck to get hold of such pieces?
mission.
Starting today, that changes. We've made it our mission to reinterpret the vintage oversized style and make it accessible to everyone. With us, you'll find the perfect blend of vintage fit and modern design – without endless searching or compromising on quality.
team.
Our team currently consists of just two young men. Two schoolmates pursuing their dreams. Two people who are always learning new things.
matthias.
My name is Matthias, and I'm responsible for design, planning, and external communications. My passion has always been drawing, until one day I ventured into digital design. With this in mind, I create all the designs, select the new textiles, and ensure our ideas are implemented. Planning and field work involve many appointments, phone calls, and endless email chats. Collaboration with the printer, models, and clients is a top priority.
elias.
Elias is at my side. He takes care of photo shoots, the website, and everything related to technology. He also handles our bookkeeping and accounting. As an avid photographer and IT specialist, Elias perfectly complements our team and fills exactly the areas we were lacking.
designs.
Defined by clean lines, simple symbols, and bold colors, our designs reflect the culture of the 1980s through 2000s. Men who dared to wear pink and women who wore high heels with an oversized shirt. The Y2K style was definitely a very special one.
However, the trend is increasingly moving toward simple, almost drab colors. In the seriousness of society, people are forgetting all the color that once covered people. Why not bring it all back?
time.
A long time has passed since the idea of 2022. At this point, we've come further than we ever could have hoped. But our journey has by no means been easy.
Naturally, the first thing that came with the idea was finding a name. How do we express what we want to convey in one word? Ideally, the name should be short and concise. And, of course, the most important thing: It couldn't be taken. This seemed like a problem that would keep us busy for a while. After all the legal advice and six failed brand names, we solved our problem in a way that was as simple as it was clever. To ensure our name was unique and unprotected, we simply took a small part of our surnames and merged them into our current company: erow.
During this phase, we began collecting our first designs. Of the many styles available today, we settled on the best: the Year 2000 (Y2K) style. Of course, these couldn't just stay on paper. So, I began to familiarize myself with all the drawing and photo editing programs available.
With the first final design idea—the erow studios star shirt—we began searching for a manufacturer. There are many factors to consider. Do you source the goods from abroad? How do you ensure labor conditions? Is the manufacturer reputable? These weren't easy questions. So, the search took longer than you might expect. Luckily, we finally found a local printing company with whom we immediately got along. To this day, we're very proud of our domestic production, with which we've been collaborating for almost two years.
Now it was time for marketing. In this day and age, this can be done perfectly via social media. This is how our Instagram (erow.studios) and TikTok (erow.studios) accounts were born.
But without pictures, even the most famous account is worthless. So we had the shirt made and organized our first photoshoot. With the help of old friends, everything went smoothly, and we had quality content for our (first few) followers.
While we were planning, producing, and photographing new textiles, we started registering our business. A process involving a lot of bureaucracy and some hidden restrictions that you should be aware of. However, after a lot of research, we were finally able to get this done.
Now that the website is up and running, we've finally arrived where we are today. At the foot of a huge mountain. We're looking forward to the climb, and to doing so together with you.
thank you.
We'd like to thank you. You in front of your screen. Thank you for making this journey possible for us. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for supporting us, simply by perceiving our story, in what we've achieved so far and what we may still achieve.
